The Parable of the Weeds

The Parable of the Weeds

MATTHEW 13:24

He put another parable before them, saying, “The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field . . .”

All of us have seen evil in the lives of people, in society, and in the world. We have also likely seen injustice take place, where evil is not punished or put in check. There is so much corruption in the lives of people and also in different spheres of society. Why is this so? Many get discouraged and lose hope because evil is so prevalent in society. However, in the midst of this darkness, we also witness a lot of good, which people desire to see more and more. Sadly, righteousness in society is not always rewarded and those who live their lives reflecting God’s righteousness are even persecuted. Why does God not bring immediate judgment on wickedness? Can we ever hope to see the righteousness, peace, and joy of God’s kingdom prevail (Romans 14:17)? Will corruption always continue unchecked? As we study Jesus’ parable of the weeds, we will find the answers to these questions.
