Counseling Ministry

What is this Ministry?

• The Counseling Ministry in the BICF seeks for ways to speak to people’s heart in our congregation, providing professional counseling, personal prayer, a listening ear, and a trusted friend to people in our congregation in need.

What is my commitment? How often? What do I do?

• Your involvement with the counseling ministry could take many forms. It might mean you are a prayer counselor on Sunday after the service. It might mean you are available to counsel international students who are lonely. It might mean that you help to run training seminars or coordinate lunches for newcomers to Beijing.

Do I need any training? How can I get it?

• We have occasional training classes for lay counselors. We also have resources that you could use if you’d like to be involved. If counseling is a passion of your heart, working together with some of our more experienced counselors will give you a place to start.

What should I do to get involved? Who do I contact?

• Contact Alison Wong (richardnalison(a)gmail.com) or the office (zgc(a)bicf.org) if you’d like more information.

Why should I do this ministry?

• Counseling provides a way to minister to the hearts of others. We are all foreigners in a strange land. And the wounds of people are many. But by using your gifts, you can encourage people and build them up, just like Jesus did. If you feel a call to minister to others through encouragement and counseling, please consider getting involved.
